We have a great opportunity for a Commissioning Manager to join our Adult Social Care team at Wokingham Borough Council, on a full-time, permanent basis.

This pivotal role focuses on working age adults, and we’re looking for someone confident and forward thinking to help shape high-quality services across the borough.

As Commissioning manager for working aged adults, you’ll lead the commissioning of services that support people with a learning disability, mental health needs or a physical disability to stay independent in their own homes and communities. Working closely with partners, you’ll deliver the priorities in our Adult Social Care Strategy and make sure the services we commission are effective, good value and meet our Care Act duties. You’ll also procure and manage contracts, while keeping a clear view of the local care market to support a diverse and sustainable range of services.

We’re a small, supportive council with big ambitions. We trust our teams, work closely together and give people the space to make ideas happen. Wokingham Borough Council is recognised as one of the most productive councils in England, and our adult social care services were rated “Good” by the CQC in 2025, with “Outstanding” for Partnerships & Communities and for Learning, Improvement & Innovation. We achieved one of the highest national scores (81%), showing our commitment to quality, collaboration and continuous improvement.

We’re also proud to be part of the Social Care Future movement, supporting a vision where everyone can live in a place they call home, connected to the people and activities that matter most.

Wokingham Borough Council has recently been ranked 2nd most productive council in England by the Impower Productivity Index, recognising our strong performance and efficient use of public money.
