We have an excellent opportunity available for a Revenues Officer Apprentice to join our Revenues Team at Wokingham Borough Council on an 18-month Fixed Term Contract.

As the Revenues Officer Apprentice, you will work in a busy and varied role that requires the ability to manage workloads and has the capacity to remain calm.

The successful candidate will need to be hard-working and motivated to effectively support the efficient administrative systems, to deliver a high-quality service to the Revenues Team and meet key deadlines.

Apprenticeship

The successful candidate will undertake the Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship delivered by Impact Futures.

The postholder will need to be confident with the use of Microsoft Office and be willing to learn new systems. You will be an excellent communicator, self-motivated with a positive outlook, and have excellent attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • First point of contact for customer enquiries regarding Council Tax and Business Rates
  • Taking and processing customer details including, but not limited to, change of circumstances, moves, discount and exemptions
  • Making arrangements with customers in respect of outstanding tax liabilities
  • Maximising income collection
  • Working to targets and KPIs

Candidate requirements:

  • Good IT skills including software such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Power Point and Excel
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Excellent Organisational skills to manage a varied workload.
  • Ability to communication well with others both on phone and in writing
  • To be compassionate, empathetic, and understanding
