Wokingham Borough Council have a fantastic opportunity available, for a highly motivated and experienced HR Business Partner to join our HR and OD team, on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract, and play a key role in our HR Services across the council.

This role is to support on a large number of projects that the Council is working on across all Directorates therefore resilience is key as from time to time you may be working on a number of priorities. The HR and OD Service is made up on Business Partnering, HR Operations and Learning and Development. Having the ability to cross work projects across all disciplines will be essential for this role.
Experience of working within a local government environment would be highly advantageous.
Key responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively across the council at both strategic and operational level, to contribute to the formulation of people-related plans, initiatives and actions needed to deliver successful outcomes for projects, goals and operational effectiveness.
- To build, maintain and model strong working relationships with colleagues across the HR function, and in turn work collaboratively with them to develop HR service plans, strategies, initiatives and projects, and to build and maintain the reputation of HR.
- To provide input and/or support for HR colleagues in all areas of HR, including policy development, pay & reward, recruitment, retention, data and employee relations and HR operations along with learning and development.
- To share ideas and roll out new working practices, consulting with internal customers, seeking feedback and acting on that feedback where necessary
Candidate Requirements:
- Degree-level, equivalent relevant professional qualifications, or expertise
- An in-depth knowledge and understanding of UK employment law
- An expert understanding of generalist HR practice
- Experience of working within an OD setting is desriable
