Wokingham Borough Council's Highways and Transport division has a fantastic opportunity available for a Head of Operational Highways and Assets. 

As the Head of this service, you will play an active role in the day-to-day operation of the Highways and Transport Service, being responsible for the long-term maintenance of the borough’s highway assets, as well as the delivery of major highway infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the long-term maintenance of the Borough’s highway assets including roads, footpaths, structures (bridges, subways, retaining walls, culverts, embankments etc) street lighting, street furniture (signs, fencing, bins, bollards, benches, street name plates, cycle stands etc) and highway drainage.
  • Maintaining inventories of the Borough’s highway-related assets, and commissioning of regular condition surveys of the asset stock.
  • Overseeing the delivery of major highway infrastructure projects and the management of highway contracts and associated functions.

Candidate Requirements:

We are looking for an experienced, customer focused person who has the skills, knowledge, and proven credibility to build relationships with key stakeholders and organisations.
