Join our Club Hub team

We’re looking for enthusiastic, caring and reliable individuals to join our team supporting children and young people aged 5 to 18 with SEND, disabilities and complex needs who attend Club Hub.

Club Hub provides high-quality, inclusive care through a range of fun, engaging and meaningful activities. Our sessions take place after school, during the school holidays and on two Saturdays each month.

Sessions are supported through a range of programmes and funding streams, including the Department for Education’s Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme and Short Breaks.

As a Playworker, you will play an important part in creating a safe, nurturing, inclusive and stimulating environment where every child and young person is supported to have fun, build confidence, develop new skills and reach their potential.

We’re looking for people who:

• Have experience of working with children and young people with SEND, disabilities or complex needs, or have a genuine passion and willingness to learn.
• Are keen to understand different communication methods, individual needs and approaches to supporting behaviour.
• Can remain calm, positive and responsive within a busy and varied environment.
• Enjoy having fun and can confidently engage children and young people in activities while keeping their safety and wellbeing at the heart of everything they do.
• Can be a positive role model and support children and young people to develop their confidence, friendships, social skills and independence.
• Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Are willing to work as part of a supportive team and contribute to creating an inclusive environment where every child and young person feels valued.

About the role

As a Playworker, you will support children and young people to stay safe, enjoy their time at Club Hub and achieve their individual potential. This could include:

• Supporting communication using approaches and tools such as Makaton, PECS and assistive technology.
• Helping children and young people access a wide variety of activities, including arts and crafts, sensory play, sports, games, water play and outdoor activities.
• Encouraging independence and developing everyday life skills, including mealtimes, personal care and keeping safe.
• Supporting children and young people to develop their social and communication skills, build friendships and form positive relationships.
• Adapting activities and your approach so children and young people with different abilities and needs can participate, achieve and have fun.
• Working closely with colleagues to provide safe, consistent and person-centred support.
