This might just be the job for you. We have created a new post of Workforce Development officer on a 2-year fixed term contract, whilst we explore long term options for the infrastructure to support workforce development. The post holder will work with members of the Adult Social Care (ASC) Workforce Board and the Principal Social Worker for Adults in implementing our new ASC workforce strategy, as well as planning and coordinating local and online recruitment campaigns.

The post sits within Adult Social Care and involves supporting the department to meet it’s objectives in implementing the ASC workforce strategy by:

  • Implementing our recruitment and retention strategy, building the profile of the Borough as an attractive prospect for potential adult social care staff, leading recruitment campaigns, ensuring effective onboarding, and working closely with the existing workforce to ensure that Wokingham offers the right environment and benefits to retain high-performing workers.
  • Supporting the implementation and coordination of the action plans from the workforce strategy including Wellbeing and Workforce Development
  • Coordinate meetings of the adult social care workforce board and various workstreams with a continuous focus on Equality and Diversity and Co-production

This is a ‘hands-on’ role, with the postholder liaising and interacting with both prospective and existing staff, as well as working closely with communications and HR specialists to develop the profile of adult social care in the borough. This will also include working with providers on local recruitment strategies and campaigns.

The postholder will be a team player, someone who is very creative and has experience in recruitment and social care. They will be able to demonstrate initiative, be a good communicator, as well have good project management skills.  They will be enthusiastic and flexible and will bring new ideas and creativity using a range of face to face and virtual forums. The post holder will also be someone who has experience of social care. This post may interest someone who has worked in learning and development, HR, and is looking for a new challenge
