The MASH Team are looking to recruit a skilled, permanent Assistant Team Manager (ATM) to oversee the work of the front door to Children’s Services.
This is an exciting time to join Wokingham Borough Council as we expand our children’s workforce to meet an increase in demand for our services and create innovative new teams using Signs of Safety as our practice framework.
We know that the success of ANY team will be dependent upon the people we employ. We are keen to hear from those that are flexible, dynamic and willing to work with safe uncertainty, to achieve the best outcomes for our children.
To enable you to work to your best we will develop you in your role and as part of the team; additional training and support will be provided, and you will have an opportunity to develop the range of interventions and skills you bring to make a difference to children and families.
The Assistant Team Manager role – you will be responsible for reviewing contacts and referrals in a timely way and to provide robust management oversights in line with the Wokingham threshold document. Recording is key in this role as you will need to be able to provide a robust rationale for decision making for families as we always endeavour to provide the correct level of support and intervention for families at the right time. You will support and supervise staff members which include qualified and AYSE Social Workers, unqualified Referral Co-ordinators, and Student Social Workers.
Using the Signs of Safety Practice Framework, you will support the staff within the MASH Team to consider the harm and danger to children, along with the strengths and safety for a child and family to reach a decision about next steps. The ideal candidate will be dynamic and analytical in their approach and be experienced in this field of work.
As part of the role, you may deputise for the Team Manager at times and may also support the social workers in completing contacts, if required. There is ability to shape what this role will look like depending on the needs, capacity, and demands of the team. You will need to be confident to work in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to think quickly on your feet and have a good knowledge of thresholds.
The MASH Team works closely with the Duty, Triage, & Assessment Team (DTA) and our partner agencies, so the effective candidate will need to work collaboratively and constructively with other team members and across the service and with partner agencies to promote safe, positive, and timely decisions for the children and young people of the borough.
Closing Date: 11pm Sunday 27 June
Interview Date: w/c 12 July
